Waterbird Census Summary 2002

This report outlines the surveys of waterbird use of wetland areas on the Refuge and compares survey results for the past six years. A common theme throughout 2002 was continuation of the drought. Total waterfowl days-use in 2002 dropped to 267,600, the second lowest level since intensive counts began in 1997.
